Due to COVID-19, our school is virtual. We are a group of Parents, Guardians, Staff and Teachers who meet virtually to create a safe space, activities that foster relationships and encourage educational pursuits for children who are neuroatypical and neurotypical.
Creating virtual activities for 235 students is expensive so Mrs. Miriam Simon Causey, a Volunteer Coordinator for TPCS had the vision of creating this flea market. Her idea was that since students are spending all of their time indoors, they should have a place to have fun, purchase items that they can use when they are not in virtual classes. She also thought that they could earn money and PTO could as well,
The Volunteer Coordinators, and the PTO Officers met and further developed this idea. this to raise funds for our PTO to use 10% of sales to create virtual activities so that all students can socialize, feel less isolated and purchase tools that will increase the capacity for students to learn.
PTO would like to thank the following people who's contribution made this possible and for whom this school would not exist and thus this flea market would have never been created:
Tonna Harris-Bosselmann and Devon Orland Christopher, the founders of Tapestry Public Charter School who believe that :
The mission of Tapestry Public Charter School is to offer an inclusive, individualized learning environment that is academically engaging, both for neurotypical students and those on the autism spectrum, and to create a positive school culture that empowers all students to take possession of their innate talents and become creative builders of their own futures.
Tapestry provides a rigorous and enriching education for a neuro diverse student body in grades 6-12, thereby creating an inclusive, innovative, and replicable academic model.
PTO would like to thank, Dr. Tyson who’s work and dedication in developing standards to make virtual-individualized education rigorous has kept the students, Teachers, Staff, Parents and Guardians safe during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The PTO Thanks the Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Staff for holding the mission, vision and maintaining a strong sense of community.
